XERF Skin Tightening

Designed to restore firmness and natural facial balance, without surgery, without downtime.

What Is XERF Skin tightening?

Firmer Skin, No Surgery

XERF Skin Tightening is a non-surgical treatment that uses advanced radiofrequency energy to firm and
tighten the skin — reaching the deeper tissue layers responsible for structure and support without affecting
the surface.

As collagen declines with age, the skin begins to lose support — leading to laxity, fine lines, and softer facial contours. XERF delivers controlled radiofrequency energy into those deeper layers, gently heating the tissue to tighten existing collagen and stimulate new production over time. Built-in cooling technology protects the outer skin, while real-time monitoring ensures precise, consistent energy delivery throughout the treatment.

"Tighter, stronger-looking skin that still looks like you — just more supported, more defined."

Treatment Instructions

Pre-treatment instructions
  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning (including tanning beds and self-tanners) for at least 2–4 weeks before treatment.
  • Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily to the areas being treated.
  • Discontinue use of retinoids (Retin-A, tretinoin), glycolic and salicylic acids, and other exfoliants for at least 5–7 days before treatment.
  • Avoid chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or waxing in the treatment area for 1–2 weeks before your session.
  • Hydrate well — drink plenty of water in the 24–48 hours leading up to your appointment to maximize results.
  • Inform your provider of any metal implants, pacemakers, or defibrillators.
  • If you have a history of cold sores, ask your physician about an antiviral medication prior to treatment.
  • Shave any hair-bearing areas within the treatment zone 1–2 days before your appointment.
  • Arrive with clean skin — no makeup, lotion, deodorant, or oil on the treatment area on the day of treatment.
  • Mild erythema (redness) and edema (swelling) may appear immediately following treatment and can persist for 1–3 days.
  • Do not apply a cooling or ice pack to the treatment area after your session.
  • Apply a non-occlusive topical product, such as a gentle moisturizer, to soothe the treated area. Moisturize daily.
  • Avoid activities that increase blood flow or body temperature, as these may intensify redness (strenuous exercise, hot showers, saunas, hot yoga).
  • Avoid cosmetics containing alcohol for at least 1 week after treatment.
  • To minimize the risk of hyperpigmentation, avoid sun exposure and apply a broad-spectrum SPF 50 or higher daily throughout your treatment series.
  • Contact your provider with any questions or concerns at (703) 431-1730.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does XERF hurt?

Most patients find XERF very tolerable. The device includes built-in cooling technology that protects the surface of the skin and keeps the treatment comfortable throughout. Most describe a warm sensation during the treatment.

XERF Skin Tightening typically requires little to no downtime. You may experience mild redness or warmth immediately after the treatment, but this generally resolves quickly.

Some patients notice mild tightening shortly after treatment. More visible improvement typically appears within four to six weeks as collagen production increases. Full results generally develop over two to three months as the skin continues to remodel.

Results from XERF Skin Tightening may last up to 12 months or longer, depending on your skin condition, age, and how your skin responds. Many patients maintain their results with periodic treatments as part of an ongoing plan.

XERF Skin Tightening can be used on the cheeks, jawline, lower face, neck, décolletage, and around the eyes. In some cases, it may also be used on select body areas where mild skin laxity is present. Your provider will confirm the most appropriate treatment areas during your consultation.

No. Both treatments use radiofrequency energy, but they work differently. XERF Skin Tightening uses radiofrequency energy delivered through a handpiece on the surface of the skin — no needles. It is focused on lifting, firming, and tightening loose or lax skin.

RF Microneedling uses fine needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin while delivering radiofrequency energy beneath the surface. It targets skin texture, scarring, and collagen remodeling at a deeper level. Your provider will recommend the right treatment — or combination — based on your specific concerns.
